Activities LHS Students Are Doing During the 2014-15 School Year

  • Conducted Patriot Day activities including field trip to Kennewick’s 9-11 Memorial and Red, White, & Blue Dress Up Day
  • Formed Urban Poets Society Club
  • Youth Suicide Prevention Week activities including Yellow Dress Up Day
  • Preparation for LHS Open House
  • Anti-Bullying Week activities including Purple Dress Up Day
    • Presentation/discussion of creating/understanding healthy relationships
  • Breast Cancer Awareness Week activities including Pink Dress Up Day
  • Alcohol and Other Drug Use/Abuse (AODA) Awareness Week activities including Wear Red Day


Activities LHS Students Accomplished During the 2013-14 School Year

  • Child Abuse Awareness Week activities
  • Cards delivered monthly to the Kennewick Senior Center, in conjunction with the Meals on Wheels program.
  • Adopted a family for Christmas and delivered food items, clothing, a Christmas tree, items for a Christmas dinner, and personalized and general Christmas gifts
  • Over 70 Christmas Cards created and delivered to the Wounded Warrior Project
  • Adopted a family for Thanksgiving and delivered over 150 food items and a Thanksgiving dinner to them
  • SOLD field trip to WSU Tri-Cities to raise student awareness and concern
  • Expanded Veterans Day into a week of activities commemorating veterans, including a field trip to Kennewick’s Viet Nam Veterans Memorial and a Viet Nam veteran as a guest speaker
  • During Anti-Bullying Week, obtained student and staff pledges to take a stand on preventing bullying – included a school wide activity involving Teaching Tolerance
  • Raised money during Breast Cancer Awareness Week to assist in purchasing wigs for children with cancer
  • Held Spirit Week activities and a Fall/Homecoming Dance
  • Delivered Halloween Cards to Senior Citizens Center
  • Suicide Prevention Week activities – including a guest speaker from OSPI and the YSPP Council of Washington State
  • Held a Book Drive to add books to our new library – collected over 250 books, including items from 2 community donations
